My first juice creation was a success! Such a success in fact that I had almost finished it before I remembered to take a picture…
It’s pretty warm in the UK for March so to bring my temperature down, I juiced the coolest and crispest that nature offers.
It’s a basic juice, no blending or crushing needed.
1/2 a cucumber
2 sticks of celery
1/2 a green apple
1/2 a lime, skin removed
6-8 mint leaves
Juice all ingredients together, reserving a couple of mint leaves for a garnish, if you want it extra cold, add some ice at the end.
Commonly known as Cucumis sativus, cucumbers have great antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties and are known for scavenging free radicals. Longer term, cucumbers have been associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and many cancers.
Also sucking up free redicals is celery, with a big added boost of Vitamin C. On the inside its good for your blood pressure, but on the outside it’s great for regulating water balance in the body (it’s the mixture of natural sodium and potassium) so it’s super good if you need to be fitting into something a little slimmer fitting 😉
While we might not be including the soluble fibre that apples can provide (we are juicing not blending the apple) we are still enjoying the antioxidant benefits they bring, and also the blood sugar regulating properties of apples- perfect if you are reducing your ‘normal’ food intake and increasing your raw or juice intake.
The mint and the lime are for zingy freshness here….
